rochester primary care network

Speak the unspeakable. If you think something is wrong, it probably is. The Rochester Primary Care Network knows that family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers are usually the first to notice behavior changes that might signal a mental health issue. Educating our community on the common warning signs and where to turn for support can have a huge impact. Writer Robin Lohkamp, illustrator Chris Lyons and I collaborated on this project for Causeway Community Partners.

Challenge

When a friend, coworker or loved one is hurting, it’s hard to know if or when to speak up. You may not recognize the symptoms of mental wellness issue—in others, or in yourself. And if you did speak up, what’s the most helpful way to get your friend or family member the support they might need?

solution

Create a campaign that depicts the warning signs of a mental health issue in an approachable, friendly way that de-stigmatizes the struggle, invites an important conversation and encourages that friend or family member to talk to their primary care provider. The campaign included Facebook ads, digital outdoor, restroom mirror clings on the New York State Thruway.
